How does Nomad impact on our IT systems?
It doesn’t! Laborotech hosts the whole process – from a commuters request for a timetable download to a real-time update the entire process is run by Laborotech.
We host the back-end servers which deliver the information “Over the Air” (OTA) to your customers so there are no costly investments in hardware needed by you the travel operator.
The only time that your staff needs to get involved is when they need to broadcast a message e.g. ‘X station is closed due to a security alert. All passengers are requested to travel to station Y’. Laborotech will provide you with a secure webpage provides your Controllers/Marketing department to send out as many messages as they wish – at no extra cost. And unlike SMS messaging systems, that have a limit of 140 characters per message, you’re not restricted by the amount of characters you can use – with Nomad your message can be as long as you like!

Has Nomad been tried, tested and deployed in a “live” transport environment? Yes. Nomad version 4.2 has been running in Adelaide, South Australia for almost 2 years under a contract with the State Government. Laborotech has also launched Nomad version 4.3 in the UK with Chiltern Railways being the first train company to offer it to their customers.
